Developments from Fire

Having created my own flame videos and researching into the work of Gustav Metzger’s ‘Liquid Crystal Environments’ I decided to respond to both themes through the creation of a digital development of my videos that aimed to reflect the colours and patterns seen in the ‘Liquid Crystal Environments’. These results are formed by layering my images up to 20 times over and over to create a denser image with more digital layers to modify. Once the layers are made I grouped them up to allow for colour shifts to be applied to individual groups to try and replicate the patterns and colours of the ‘Liquid Crystal Environments’.

To further add to these responses, I experimented with the smudge tool in Photoshop to smear the image layers across the digital canvas and create an outcome that has a greater connection to the ‘Liquid Crystal Environments’ created by Gustav Metzger. In my opinion, these were the most successful of my responses to the ‘Liquid Crystal Environments’ as the blended colours are extremely reminiscent of Gustav Metzger's work.
