Technological Cells

In accompaniment to my sculptural outcome, I intended to display a rendered simulation on the CRT monitor at the core of the structure that responds to my biological themes of cellular life and the rise of technological and procedural influence. My plan for this piece was to have two key components (a biological and a technological) interact with each other to display the dichotomy of the difference between the two forms. For the technological aspect, I used a series of geometry nodes seen below to create an array model of ‘metal’ and ‘glass’ in a formation that mimicked the structure of a DNA chain. To complement the technological aspect, I researched the structure of microvilli within the digestive systems of humans. Subsequently, I worked on an array-based simulation of that structure in order to create a ‘fleshy’ tunnel through which the technological aspect of this simulation could travel through.
